Our Webinar Agenda is as follows:

Date: Wednesday 19th October 2022

Time: 10am – 10.40am

Location: Online via Zoom

What is this webinar about?

The Unfair Dismissals Acts 1977 – 2015 provide that every dismissal of an Employee will be presumed to have been unfair unless the Employer can show substantial grounds justifying the dismissal. Another fundamental principle in dealing with any dismissal is that fair procedures are applied throughout the process.

The purpose of the Acts is to protect Employees from being unfairly dismissed from their jobs by laying down criteria by which dismissals are to be judged unfair and by providing an adjudication system and redress for an Employee whose dismissal has been found to be unfair.

However, to mitigate the risk against a complaint of unfair dismissal, the Employer can take steps to apply procedurally correct processes in dealing with terminations.

So, what constitutes a ‘fair’ dismissal?

What is the difference between dismissals on the grounds of conduct, capability and competence?

How is a disciplinary investigation different than a disciplinary hearing?

What are the financial and reputational risks for Organisations with an unfair dismissal?

Join us at our upcoming webinar for answers to these key questions and more, where we share our experience of supporting Organisations.

At the webinar, we will be covering:

  • Provide an overview of relevant legislation and codes including the Unfair Dismissals Acts and the Code of Practice on Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures

  • Outline the Informal and Formal Disciplinary Processes when managing issues of conduct, capability and competence in the workplace

  • Key Case Law

We have dedicated the last 10 minutes of the webinar to a Q&A.

Join 100’s of HR practitioners and keep your HR knowledge and skills up-to date.
