Who is covered by the Display Screen Equipment Regulation 2007?

Explanation of Terms in the Regulation:

Display Screen Equipment (Or Visual Display Unit - VDU) means any alphanumeric or graphic display screen, regardless of the display process that is involved.

 Employee refers to an Employee who habitually uses display screen equipment as a significant part of his or her normal work. 

The Display Screen Equipment Regulation 2007 covers the following:

  • If the Employee has no option but to use a Visual Display Unit to perform his or her work
  • If the Employee generally uses the Visual Display unit for continuous periods of in excess of 1 hour

If the Visual Display Unit is generally used by the Employee on a daily basis.
