Minimum rates of pay in the security sector are increasing from the 28th of September 2026.

New Rate of Pay

The existing Employment Regulation Order (ERO) for the security industry came into effect on the 22nd of July 2025 and set the minimum rate of pay for workers in the security industry at €15.41 per hour.

The latest ERO amends provides for an increase in the minimum rate of pay for an adult worker in the sector from €15.41 per hour to €16.15 per hour effective from the 28th of September 2026.

The national minimum wage rate is currently €14.15 per hour.

Impact on Organisations

The security sector has grown in recent years with the annual report of the Private Security Authority showing that a record number of 43,958 individuals held licences from the watchdog by the end of 2025.

Organisations operating in the security sector will need to assess the financial impact of the increase on labour costs as well as review all relevant employment contracts to ensure they reflect the new minimum pay rates by Monday 28th of September.
