Minimum Rates of Pay Increase in Security Sector

The Minister of State for Employment, Small Business and Retail has signed a new Employment Regulation Order (ERO) for the Security Industry. The Order amends the existing ERO already in place for the sector and came into effect on Monday, 28th of September 2026.

Security Sector ERO

The existing ERO for the security industry came into effect on the 22nd of July 2025. The Order set the minimum rate of pay for workers in the security industry at €15.41 per hour.

This latest ERO amends provides for an increase in the minimum rate of pay for an adult worker in the sector from €15.41 per hour to €16.15 per hour. The national minimum wage rate is currently €14.15 per hour.

Impact on Organisations

Organisations in the security sector will need to assess the financial impact of the increase on labour costs as well as review all relevant employment contracts to ensure they reflect the new minimum pay rates.
