Minimum Wage to Rise Again in January
For Organisations, the greatest concern around the annual Budget is how any new measures will impact overall labour costs.
While lobby groups had hoped for a pause in the recent trend of annual increases to the minimum wage rate, it was confirmed in Budget 2027 that from the 1st of January 2027, the national minimum wage will increase by €0.79 per hour to €14.94 per hour.
The increase will be somewhat offset by a change to Employers’ PRSI that will save Organisations between €650-€700 per applicable Employee over the course of a year.
Looking ahead to next year, it is likely that Organisations will continue to face challenges around increasing labour costs, increasing compliance and increasing energy costs. Employers look set to face a similar level of pressure around the cost of doing business in 2027 to that experienced in 2026.
