Unfair Dismissals & the Workplace Relations Commission Webinar
We are delighted to invite you to attend our Webinar Series for 2025.
This webinar is COMPLIMENTARY, but registration is essential.
Did you know?
24% of Organisations surveyed in Adare’s most recent HR Barometer Series 9.1 reported that Employees made claims through the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) in 2024.
Employees with more than one year’s service are protected against unfair dismissal. Organisations that wish to terminate an Employee’s contract of employment must follow fair procedures and it is typically Employers that fail to follow the principles of fair procedures that face the prospect of defending unfair dismissal claims in the WRC.
Our Webinar Agenda is as follows:
Webinar: Unfair Dismissals & the Workplace Relations Commission
Date: Thursday, 5th June 2025
Time: 11.00 am – 11.40 am
Location: online via Zoom
The WRC’s Adjudication Service received 2,285 unfair dismissal claims in 2024 representing 15% of the individual complaints lodged. Employees are increasingly aware of their employment rights and the high level of unfair dismissal claims indicates that Organisations are less clear on their legal obligations when terminating a contract of employment.
To help Organisations navigate the principles of fair procedures and prepare for the possibility of defending an unfair dismissal claim in the WRC, Adare and Linea invite you to an insightful webinar covering the relevant legislation and Code of Practice governing unfair dismissal as well as WRC case studies and practical issues to consider if required to defend an Employee claim.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Unfair Dismissals Acts and Code of Practice on Grievance & Disciplinary Procedures
- Automatically unfair and discriminatory dismissals (exceptions to service requirement)
- Fair dismissals involving competence, conduct, capability or illegality
- Employer’s burden of proof
- Case studies from the WRC
- Commercial considerations of a public WRC hearing
