Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment have announced that Minister for Business, Employment and Retail, Damien English TD, has indicated his intention to sign an Employment Regulation Order (ERO) for the Contract Cleaning Industry, which provides for a pay increase for the sector.

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has published statistics in relation to employment equality complaints received in the first six months of 2020. The WRC committed to publish these statistics every six months, disaggregated by the nine grounds of discrimination.

• Employee awarded €20,000 for Gender related Discrimination
• Employer’s offer of alternative employment found to be unsuitable for the purposes of the Redundancy Payments Acts

The Workplace Relations Act, 2015 amended the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 by allowing Employees to accrue annual leave during periods of sick leave. These changes took effect on 1 August 2015.
