The CIPD Annual Survey Report 2012 reports that overall, half of Organisations (49%) report the current economic has led to an increased focus on talent management. The importance of an effective workforce is highlighted when times are tough and Organisations cannot afford to tolerate inadequate performance.

Furthermore, in today’s lean working environment, Organisations are seeking to maximise the value of their people. All Employees are an asset which can be leveraged to substantially increase organisational success. The more an Organisation knows about their talent, the more levels of performance can be enhanced. Leveraging talent management processes can assist in capturing meaningful information about its people, understanding the talent that is driving results and acting on insights gained for better organisational performance.

Why Link Learning and Development with Performance Management?

An integrated learning and development and performance management process enables Organisations to align their learning programs with the overall and individual performance goals and objectives and gain greater benefits from their learning and development investments.

Research demonstrates that Employees tend to perform much better when they have a clear understanding of their development needs and potential future opportunities within their Organisation. By working closely with the Employee, and supporting and facilitating the development of the skills and competencies needed for success, the Organisation supports the achievement of a ‘win-win’ to the benefit of all.
