Speaker Profiles

Katie Ridge, Head of Employer Relations
Katie Ridge, Chartered MCIPD, Barrister at Law, has practical Human Resource experience combined with substantial employment law knowledge and workplace investigation know how. She has supported many Organisations by providing practical legal and professional advice and guidance.

Katie has a broad range of employment law experience specialising in workplace investigations, grievance and disciplinary matters, as well as representing Organisations in the Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court.

Prior to joining Adare Human Resource Management, Katie has supported a diverse range of private, not-for-profit and public sector Organisations. She has worked as a barrister for 15 years in addition to her 10 years working within HR roles. 

Katie’s role is to support Adare Human Resource Management clients in the provision of timely and practical employment law advice and guidance.

Tommy Cummins, Head of Industrial Relations

Tommy Cummins advises Adare Human Resource Management clients on significant and large scale industrial relations issues. Tommy regularly represents Organisations in the Workplace Relations Commission and the Labour Court.

In his role of Head of Industrial Relations, Tommy assists unionised and non-unionised Organisations in the design, development and delivery of Organisational change through an Employee Relations framework, including redefinition of established IR processes and introduction of Pay and Reward structures to drive tangible productivity gain within the Organisation. 

Prior to working with Adare Human Resource Management, Tommy worked for over 20 years in a senior HR capacity within diverse multinational organisations such as Fujitsu Microelectronics, IBM and AXA Insurance. Tommy’s achievements have been recognised within the fields of IR and HR when he was an invited speaker at for two years at the IRN Conferences and also a Winner of the CIPD Watson Wyatt HR Innovation Award.

Catherine Smith McKiernan, Head of HR Consulting

Catherine’s role is to oversee the effective management of all the Adare Human Resource Management client work and HR projects not only from a quality perspective, but to ensure the effective delivery of the work and client satisfaction.

Drawing on over 20 years business consulting experience Catherine specialises in strategy, organisation effectiveness and change management.  Having worked with private sector, public sector and not for profit clients in Ireland and abroad Catherine has a proven track record in managing senior relationships to ensure the People agenda remains to the fore leading many large-scale transformation assignments as well as smaller more focused strategic engagements.

An experienced board member, Catherine’s work covers all aspects of organisational development including governance, strategic planning, project management, facilitation, training and communications.
