Traditionally, reward and recognition strategies have had a strong emphasis toward pay and other forms of Employee financial reward. Over the past several years however, the concept of a rewards and recognition strategy, focusing on non-financial as well as financial elements has advanced considerably as Organisations have experienced the value of leveraging multiple means of reward in order to attract, motivate and retain talent. 

In an environment characterised by increasing complexity, and rapid and ongoing change, Organisations are required to continually assess the effectiveness of their compensation and reward strategies.  Moreover, Organisations can no longer afford to implement their reward and recognition strategies in a standalone manner, but must also consider the role and impact which other rewards can play in supporting organisational goals and objectives. The requirement to review the current reward and compensation framework which supports the organisational strategy can occur for many reasons including:
