Introducing a greater degree of flexibility in the workplace when tailored to the needs of the Organisations and dealt with in a fair and transparent manner, can provide numerous benefits to both Employees and to the Organisation.

As part of a feasibility assessment of flexible working arrangements, an Organisation at a minimum should seek to:

  • Increase Employees knowledge of what constitutes flexible working;
  • Ensure that Employees understand the difference between formal and informal flexible working arrangements;
  • Ensure Employees know what flexible working options are available to them within the scope of their role;
  • Ensure that refusal to grant flex working is for genuine operational reasons;
  • Get the message out there that informal flexibility is available to EVERYONE.
