What is Compassionate Leave?
Compassionate leave is a non-statutory form of leave which many Employers provide for Employees to deal with emergency situations not covered by other legislation.
Can I refuse an application for compassionate leave?
As Compassionate leave is discretionary, it is up to the Organisation whether they approve the leave or not, bearing in mind the needs of the business and those of the Employee at the time.
Are Employees entitled to be paid for compassionate leave?
As Compassionate leave is non-statutory it is up to the Organisation whether they pay for the leave or not.
