Leave Entitlement

There is no service requirement for an Employee to qualify for paid jury service leave.  Provided the Employee has actually been summoned to attend for selection as a juror, they are entitled to paid leave for the period that they are required to attend court.

When attending court for selection as a juror the Employee’s attendance at court is generally only necessary for half the day, normally a few hours in the morning.  Therefore, the Employer may require the Employee to return to work for the remainder of the day.  Where the Employee is selected to serve as a juror, they will be entitled to paid leave for the duration of the case on which they sit.
